Jim Thorpe recognized for his contribution to Thorco Field

Jim Thorpe is presented with a plaque by Acting Parks Director Bill Greenwood.

Jim Thorpe, president of Thorco Inc., in Coeur d’Alene, was recognized during Tuesday’s City Council meeting for his donation and expertise in the development of Thorco Field, home to American Legion Baseball. The Legion held an official opening of its new home on June 4 and several city officials attended, including Councilmembers Woody McEvers and Amy Evans, former Mayor Sandi Bloem and former City Councilmember Deanna Goodlander, and Finance Director Troy Tymesen. The field, off Ramsey Road next to the Kroc Community Center, replaced the Legion’s former ballpark at McEuen Park.
