The annual LEGO-rama event at the Coeur d’Alene
Public Library, 702 E. Front Ave., is set for Saturday, Jan. 19, 1-3 p.m., in
the Community Room. This year’s event will have an environmental theme.
For
2013 entries need to represent some aspect of alternative/renewable energy –
cars, boats, houses, etc. – using solar, wind, human or other power source.
Entries do not have to be working models.
One
entry per participant can be entered in the contest for ages 4 to 13. Entries
must be original designs – not a LEGO or compatible brand kit – built by the
participant without adult assistance.
Entries
are limited to a 15-by-15 inch footprint (the space it occupies on a table).
Judging will be in age groups 4-6, 7-10, and 11-13.
Judging
and this year’s program will again be provided by members of the TeraViks FIRST
Robotics Club at Coeur d’Alene High School. The club will bring its robot.
Entries
should be built prior to being brought to the library. And can be delivered to
the Community Room as early as 12:30 p.m. Judging will be from 1:30 to 2:15
p.m. Certificates and prizes will be awarded in each age group. A People’s
Choice award will also be made based on audience voting.
Anyone
age 14 and older may display designs, but these will not be included in
judging. Exhibition Category entries are also limit to a 15-by-15 inch
footprint.
