BMX Freestyle Park Completed

Last Friday, volunteers working with a vendor’s installation crew completed three features to create a BMX freestyle park adjacent to the existing skateboard park near Memorial Field.

A 2008-2009 City Council strategic goal priority, the BMX freestyle park was originally estimated to cost $70,000. By leveraging the purchasing of the equipment or “piggybacking” with other municipalities, the BMX freestyle park was completed for under $29,000. The Kiwanis Club of Coeur d’Alene was the major donor by contributing $5,000 to the new facility.

Local BMX enthusiasts raised nearly $400 towards the park and helped with the installation of the features. Councilman McEvers donated food from Rustlers Roost for the volunteers.
